This is disappointing to say the least! An Oregon couple has announced how betrayed they feel by police after they failed to do anything to the woman who attacked their little boy. I don’t blame them.
Alicia Quinney and Joshua Marbury shared a photo of their badly bruised son on Facebook just one day after the shocking incident.
“The first think I saw was Jacob’s black eye,” Quinney told KPTV. “And I was like, oh my gosh, what happened? And he turned over and the whole side of his face was black and blue.”
The couple had reportedly come home to find the unnamed babysitter asleep on their couch, while their 1-year-old son sat with a painful red handprint on his face.
After taking their baby boy to the hospital, Quinney and Marbury filed a police report, but their former babysitter still hasn’t been arrested.
“After several days if not week of being distracted at my job (only commission sales job and only source of income) we had a confession from the abuser saying they did it. STILL this person was not arrested because they had to build a case and a jury to find him guilty BEFORE they go to jail,” Marbury wrote on Facebook.
Ultimately, the couple found out that the charges against the babysitter were dropped because their son was too young to tell authorities about the abuse.
“DO YOUR PART, you have a verbal confession and evidence showing a hand print!!!! A dead body cant tell you who killed them. Yet a baby isn’t held to the same standard because he cant talk???? Well neither can a dead body.” Marbury wrote.
My heart goes out to these parents because sometime that which is in place to protect us, ends up hindering our justice. Unfortunately, should they try to get justice themselves, they no doubtedly would end up in jail and fast! You can’t necessarily blame the officers however the legal system has got to do better by this family!
Since posting it, their picture has gone viral! Hopefully this will add some pressure on “the law” to do something more!
