Waist training..it’s one of the most recent fads in weight loss… Everyone under the sun is doing it, from Kim Kardashian to Ciara and Even new mom Coco. My weight tends to prefer to gather right at my belly often leaving me with the dreaded muffin-top because my waist disappears! I have also thought about waist training, but does it really work?
Dr. Mary Jane Minkin, a clinical professor of Ob-Gyn at Yale School of Medicine, says that once you remove the garment, your body will return to its normal shape. “I have been mystified by the whole waist-training issue,” Dr. Minkin tells Us Weekly. “There is no scientific reason that wearing a tight corset around one’s waist would do anything permanent.”
“I don’t see a problem with waist training, as long as it isn’t too tight,” says Dr. Apovian, professor of medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. “It may even work as a motivation to change eating, exercise and lifestyle habits. But no one should believe that will cause weight loss on its own.”
Well, there it is! Duped by Hollywood once again! Guess I am actually going to have to learn this nutrition and exercise thing after all!
