Wow! No one in the courtroom could’ve seen this coming! 17-year-old Noelle Johnsen was killed by a drunk driver when the driver’s car swerved off the road and hit a pole. Everyone in the courtroom sat in awe at the sentencing of 18-year-old Brian Vecchio, the teen driver responsible for the accident.
Before Vecchio received his sentence of 1 1/2 to 4 years in state prison, Noelle’s mother Melody Scaia, read an emotional statement. She talked about her daughter, sharing how loving and she was and how much she’s missed.
Then it happened. She forgave him. She went over to Vecchio and kissed him on the cheek and gave him a hug. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place.
What an incredibly strong mother. She gave us all a beautiful lesson in love, grace and compassion. She later stated she forgave because that’s what her daughter would have done…absolutely amazing!
